Who is Jesus?

The Bible describes Jesus as “The Son of God”. This means that he is fully God and fully human. It says that Jesus is God in many texts. It also makes clear that Jesus became a human at his birth.

The name “Jesus” means Saviour. There are many other names for Jesus. One is “Christ”. This comes from a Greek word and means the same as “Messiah”, which comes from the Hebrew language. The Messiah was the name given to the Saviour God had promised to send. Hebrew Prophets had given many prophecies about this Messiah to the Hebrew people over many centuries. Jesus is the Messiah and so he is known as “The Lord Jesus Christ” (Tsowo Yeshu Mashika).
