Is there a difference between “Catholic” and “Christian”?

There are three main branches of Christianity: Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant. The main differences between Roman Catholic and Protestant are that Catholics include some practices and teachings Protestants do not believe in. For example, the Catholic Bible includes some extra books. Catholics also venerate and pray to Mary, the mother of the Saviour Jesus, and pray to many deceased Christian persons. Catholics place great importance on the role of the priests to be mediators between God and humans. Protestants believe that these are not biblical practices.
