What is the meaning of “a personal relationship with God”?

A personal relationship with God is the basis of the Christian life. The Bible teaches that we have all sinned. Sin is a power that has affected our mind and heart very seriously.

All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.[9]

Sin has broken our relationship with God.

Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear[10]

When a person takes refuge in the Saviour Jesus, they accept that they are sinners and need a Saviour. They trust in the Saviour Jesus to take away their sin and this person’s relationship with God is restored. From that day, they can talk with God, in prayer and God speaks to them in their heart.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ[11]

As a relationship with God is restored by the Saviour Jesus, God reveals himself in many ways to believers, through God’s Holy Spirit who lives in believers.
